Character: White crystal or powder; odorless. This product is soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol and almost insoluble in ether.

It is soluble in water (12.54g/100ml at 0 C and 28.3g/100ml at 80 C). The highest solubility is about 28% at 33.4 C. The solution is alkaline and its PH value is about 9-9.5. It is slightly soluble in alcohol and insoluble in liquid chlorine and ammonia. It is easy to be oxidized into sodium sulfate in air and decomposed into sodium sulfide at high temperature. In order to strengthen the reductant, sodium bisulfite is formed by reacting with sulfur dioxide, and corresponding salts are formed by reacting with strong acid.

(1) Industry Grade : Used in Dyeing and printing Industry , as dechlorinating agent and bleaching agent, in leather and tanning industry as bleaching agent , developer agent , reductant agent , stabilizer agent , or used in papermaking, electronic and water treatment industry.

(2) Food Grade: In food industry as additive (E223) preservative, antioxidant and antimicrobic for fruits (dried, glazed and candled), vegetables (onions, potatoes, etc.), juices (citrus and grapes) and fish (shrimps and prawns). In silage treatment as anti-fermentative. In starch and sweeteners production as bacteriostatic.

(3) Photo Grade: In the photographic industry as component of developer bath.

(4) Pharmaceutical Grade: pharmaceutical industry for the production of chloroform, benzene and formaldehyde phenylpropanoid Sulfone.
