Titanium dioxide (chemical formula: TiO ₂, white solid or amphoteric oxide powder, molecular weight: 79.9, is a kind of white pigment, with non-toxic, best best whiteness and brightness, opacity, is considered to be today's performance is one of the best white pigment in the world.Titanium white adhesion, not easy to chemical changes, is always white.Widely used in coatings, plastics, paper, printing ink, chemical fiber, rubber, cosmetics and other industries.It has a high melting point and is also used to make fire-resistant glass, glazes, enamel, clay, and experimental vessels that can withstand high temperatures.
Titanium dioxide can be extracted from rutile by acid decomposition or titanium tetrachloride decomposition.Titanium dioxide is stable and is widely used as a white pigment in paint. It has good masking ability and is similar to lead white but does not turn black like lead white.It also has the persistence of zinc white.Titanium dioxide is also used as a matting agent for enamel to produce a very bright, hard and acid resistant enamel cating.
