Description
Sodium bromide is a white crystal or powder. Having a salty or slightly bitter taste. Absorbing water from the air and caking but not deliquescent. Soluble in water. Low toxicity and irritation. It can be used for trace determination of cadmium in analytical chemistry, photographic plate making and pharmaceuticals. Physicochemical properties Colorless cubic crystals or white granular powders. It is odorless, alkaline and bitter. The relative density was 3.203 (25 C). Melting point 747 C. It has hygroscopicity in the air. It is easy to dissolve in water (121g/100ml water at 100 C), and the water solution is neutral. It is slightly soluble in alcohol. Anhydrous sodium bromide crystallizes in the solution at 51 C, and dihydrates are formed below 51 C. Its bromine ion can be replaced by chlorine.

1. It can be used as raw material in the preparation of liquid photographic film; medically as sedative, the brominating agent in printing and dyeing; it can also be used in synthetic fragrances and other chemicals.
2. Photographic industry applies it for the preparation of liquid photosensitive film. It is medically used for the production of diuretics and sedatives. Perfume industry uses it for the production of synthetic fragrances. Printing and dyeing industry use it as a brominating agent. In addition, it can be also be used for organic synthesis and so on.
3. It is used for the photographic industry, spices, pharmaceutical and printing industries.
4. It is used for the reagents for analysis, and can also be used for the synthesis of inorganic and organic compounds and pharmaceutical industry.
