Colorless oblique crystals or clumps, odorless, salty and bitter. The relative density of 3.353 (25 ℃), melting point 730 ℃ (decomposition), boiling point of 806 ~ 812 ℃. It is easily soluble in water and the aqueous solution is neutral. Soluble in ethanol, acetone and acid; Slightly soluble in methanol and liquid ammonia; Insoluble in ether or chloroform. It can form compound salt with alkali metal halide. It has a strong hygroscopicity.
